Another PPV approaches and TNA warms up their players for another home game, so to speak, I think it's about time to have a look at the card on the docket so far....
James Storm vs. Bobby Roode vs. AJ Styles for the #1 Contender's Spot. Loser waits until after Bound for Glory 2013 before he is able to challenge.
I'm of two minds on this. On one hand, it's a decent concept, provided that there is cause to enforce such a stipulation. On the other, it IS a bit harsh. Unless ONE party involved has been a plague to the product, by opinion of the GM, it would seem reasonable to inflict the stipulation upon such a person, but Storm and AJ haven't had a reign in nearly a year and nearly two years respectively. Either way, however, it does do the job of making this a must-win-situation.
Chavo/Hernandez vs. Kaz/Daniels for the Tag Team Titles
I like that this match has been put on screen with some build. It makes the match seem more important and, even though WWE has a bunch of guys for the tag straps, it somehow just isn't as important as it is in TNA. This match could steal the show if they are given the time to make something of it.
Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy in a Ladder Match for the World Title
This is the show right here. If you thought Bound for Glory was something, this will be even moreso with every stop pulled out. In fact, unless something drastic happens mid-match, causing one man to be unable to compete, this could very well be a Match of the Year contender. For whoever finally does come out on top, I think both will look like a million bucks.
Samoa Joe vs. Magnus in a No Disqualification match for the TV Title
Another good, solid match that is sure to be filled with some good brawling and high impact moves. Joe is doing better this year as a champion than he has in the previous 2 or 3. His position right in the center of the card makes him versatile, able to move up or down. Magnus is on the rise right now and a win here could bring him into the limelight to feud with the likes of a rampaging Matt Morgan, perhaps.
Devon vs. Kurt Angle
I can't say as I'm very excited about this one other than the fact that Aces and Eights are sure to get involved unless no stipulation says otherwise. Also, unless Bully Ray is otherwise occupied, he may see fit to interrupt the match as well. HOWEVER, if all outside parties are barred from ringside and the conclusion leads to some more revelations about the faction, it could be a very beneficial match.
Since there is still a full week until Turning Point, I won't go into winners or losers just yet, but the card seems to be shaping up pretty nicely, all things considered. It'll be interesting to see who TNA picks to face RVD for the X Division Title and whether or not we'll have an Aces and Eights Tag Team contest added to the mix. Whatever the case, for PPV, something needs to come to light.
