Survival Tactix: Nice Day For a.....

OH dear wedding! How do I loathe thee? In my opinion, there are only about 5 men on this planet who can make a nonsense angle like this work out right even if the story goes off the rails. Mercifully, Bully Ray is one of them. A wedding on Impact is a trainwreck, no matter which company gives it a try. WWE, in the past 15 years has had more than their share, from Kane and Lita to Dawn Marie and Al Wilson to Stephanie and Trips and it always ends the same......fans tune out....at least they would certainly like to.

If it so happens that this wedding goes through and Bully Ray gets a hedge of power and is ultimately revealed as the leader of the Aces and Eights, things MAY change for the better for the faction. On the other hand, if it turns out that Ray has NOTHING to do with the faction and Brooke turns? Well, all the better. We finally get a Knockout (moreorless) as a member of the faction AND we may eventually get ODB having her revenge against said Knockout. Tell me who WOULDN'T want to see Brooke shown the door whether by injury or otherwise? I mean no disrespect to the fair VP, BUT her time as the ruler of the division should be over and the reins should be given to someone else; someone who has either been a PART of the division OR someone who has hit the mat enough to warrant the respect the VP position demands. I've already given MY choice, but I give you all the chance to give a shout out to YOUR favorite candidate.......

In news about the OTHER company, (hope you caught the little jab) spring cleaning begins a bit early and the two names released baffle me. The male counterpart could potentially make sense, but the WOMAN, THAT is truly baffling. The name Buggy Nova may not mean anything to you now, but allow me to give you a bit of background.....

Buggy Nova is another name from the PWI Top 50 Women of 2012 list. That should be enough to make sense as to why she was released. BUT, I'm sure it would confuse you to see this picture NOT coming down the ramp of the biggest company in the world.....

Nevermind that she's performed with Shimmer, NWA, and held the Women's Championship with Pro Wrestling Destination. Here's the bottom line, this release is GOOD NEWS for TNA. It shows what the competition is willing to lose. AGAIN, this isn't just me being critical here, but WWE NEEDS to build their division around women who are able to compete NOW and the release of a RANKED talent on PWI, one of the business' most respected publications, shows not only WHAT they're shopping for, but HOW they're finding their talents.

TNA is lightening their load by cutting back on HUGE productions each and every month, replacing them with "one shot" returns and the potential for an expanding roster, incorporating talents from promotions like Ring of Honor, Chikara, NOAH, and IWGP makes sense if they want those in-roads. PLUS, if the relationship works more like a cooperative, it makes for a more benevolent organization, even exchanging names on occasion, provided the events aren't televised. Seeing Tessmacher, ODB, and Mickie James working a few indy shows wouldn't be such a bad thing.....it gives other young women an chance to test their metal against some of the best in the business today.

NOW, for the male release.....Trent Barretta. If he isn't sounding familiar, I'm not surprised. For the past two years, he'd been serving as cannon fodder in squash matches against the likes of Ryback and Brodus Clay. While I have no problem whatsoever with enhancement talents, becoming a career jobber so young must have seemed like a slap in the face. While his real life girlfriend was rising to the top of the storyline card, he fell below the bottom, virtually never appearing on PPV in the past couple of years. His girlfriend has been linked to 7 people in the past year and a half and has been the single highlighting figure on WWE TV for virtually the entire time.....her name? AJ LEE. Are they still together? Perhaps, but his presence in the pecking order which is WWE is a conflict of interest for the top brass, particularly if SHE'S been faithful to the relationship and been vocally against her presence on screen with the likes of John Cena and Dolph Ziggler. If that's the case, Trent Beretta serves as a conflict of interest to the storyline future of one AJ Lee and to the larger picture as well.

On TNA's side of things, it isn't much better. Both Rosita and Sarita have had their contracts lapse and they have opted to not be re-signed. Additionally, D'Angelo Dinero has been released as well. His string of injuries in the company has been his undoing, as it turns out, and TNA has been as patient as they can afford to be, so his release was "expected". The latina pair DOES confuse me a bit, but they have been so busy touring Mexico the past year that keeping them on the roster makes a SOME sense, but surely not enough if they planned on rebuilding their Knockouts Tag Division. They had been a staple of that group before their last use at Lockdown of last year. Hopefully this year will open up new possibilities for the Knockouts Division, who also serve as a theme to the monthly "One Shots".
